Hits and Misses
I have had many hits and misses throughout this year in English. Most of these hits and misses are writing assignments. One hit that I had this year was my poem blog post. This was a good piece of writing because I used good poetry techniques including imagery and personification.
Poem
The sun was shining down on her through the field of flowers. The cool breeze flew through her hair and brought the scent of the flowers right to her nose. The bright sun made her blue eyes glimmer like the ocean. She heard a small whimper behind a large willow tree in the middle of the field.

The sun was shining down on her through the field of flowers. The cool breeze flew through her hair and brought the scent of the flowers right to her nose. The bright sun made her blue eyes glimmer like the ocean. She heard a small whimper behind a large willow tree in the middle of the field.
She walked quietly to the large tree and peeked around the trunk.
It was a tiny spaniel puppy rolling around in the green grass.
She sat down in the cool grass and softly spoke to the puppy, "Come here dog." The puppy's tail began to wag as his little legs carried him all the way to the girl. As the puppy approached the girl, the tiny dog said is a soft, high voice, "Hello, it's nice to see someone in this field after all this time." The dog seemed to be young, and the girl wondered where he came from, and how old he was. The girl asked him another question, but she couldn't hear what she was saying. She began to panic, and the small dog softly barked and climbed into her lap and began to sleep.
Another hit that I've had this year was my blog post about Destin. I think I did well on this post because I used good vocabulary, and I was writing about one of my favorite things.
Destin
Whenever my family and I visit our condo in Destin, Florida, there is so many things that we enjoy doing. When we are at the beach we love to go to bed late and sleep late. When we wake up we usually eat pancakes or cereal. Sometimes we go to the Candy Maker store that is in walking distance from the condo because they serve good breakfast. It's always fun to eat breakfast there because we bring our dogs and sit outside. After breakfast we get dressed and go to the beach and pool all day. Getting to lay on the beach all day feels like a luxery. When the waves are big, sometimes my sister and I stay in the ocean for hours jumping the waves which are worth lauding.
We love to stay on the beach to watch the sunset because it is always pretty over the ocean. After watching the sunset we go to the pool to rinse all of our beach chairs off and to sit in the hot tub and swim before we go upstairs. We then go upstairs and shower and get dressed for dinner if we plan to eat out. We love to walk on the beach to a restaurant called The Backporch. My sister and I always order the crab legs. When we get back to the condo, we all lay on the couch and watch some of our favorite shows, which are mostly sitcoms. Going to the beach is when my family is happy.
My final major hit was my literary analysis on Lord of the Flies. I think I did well on this paper because I had a strong argument and I was able to support it easily. My paper was titled "How Violent Can Rocks Be?" This paper focuses on William Goulding uses symbolism to connect violence and rocks throughout the course of the book. I noticed that the bigger rock that was used to cause harm, the more dramatic the results of a violent event were. I am proud of this piece of writing and I think it was my best piece of writing this year.
I also had quite a few misses this year. My misses are writing posts that might not have been my best work. One of my misses this year was my interpretation of text in Lord of the Flies. This wasn't a great piece of writing for me because I sometimes have trouble interpreting difficult text. Another miss that I had this year in English was my procrastination blog post. I don't think I took this post too seriously, and didn't spend too much time on it. It is also short and doesn't include all the information that it should.

My last miss this year was my personal narrative. I wrote my personal narrative about my little brother being born, which I called "Worth the Wait". I thought that this piece of writing was great at the time, but my writing has improved so much over the year and now I know I could do it so much better. Though I've had many hits and misses throughout the year in English, I believe that overall, my writing has improved greatly over the year.
